Dale Sparks is a multi-award winning photojournalist with 25-years-plus experience. Sparks' forte is in sports photography winning numerous local, state and national awards for outstanding sports action. As 1994 recipient of Photo of the Year in the West Virginia Press Association Better Newspaper Contest, Sparks' winning photo was a little league baseball action shot. Sparks has won 17 first place awards from the WVPA Better Newspaper Contest since 1980 and approximately 75 second, third and honorable mention awards. Sparks has also received 5 first place awards and numerous second and third place awards from The Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers Association & The Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors from 1993 to present. Sparks also has won a first place and third place award from the National Newspaper Association 1997 National Better Newspaper Contest. Finally, Sparks who has been a member of the National Press Photographers Association since 1980, placed in the top 7 photographers in the 1997 NPPA Region 3 Clip Contest. Sparks most recently spent the last 17 years as a staff photographer for The Dominion Post in Morgantown, WV.
